  • Fabric tie dye colors
  • Plastic sheet or tarp
  • One bucket for every color that you want
  • Soda ash
  • Rubber bands
  • Rubber gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Squirt bottle
  • Marbles, rocks, or coins
  • Ziplock bags

Instructions:

Step 1. Set up the materials, such as the plastic sheet or tarps on a table or other flat surfaces. It’s better to do this outdoor so that the color will not stain the indoor spaces.

Step 2. Pinch or crumple the fabrics and tie them with rubber bands. You can also use marbles, rocks, or coins to create the pattern.

Step 3. Put on your rubber gloves and mix ½ cup of soda ash and one gallon of water. Then, soak the shirt in the mixture for about 20 minutes.

Step 4. Meanwhile, start preparing the color that you want to use in different buckets.

Step 5. Dunk the parts of your shirts in different colors one by one. You can use the squirt bottle to get the color on parts that are not covered well by the dye.

Step 6. Next, hang the shirt to dry but don’t unwrap the shirt. Once the shirt is dry, transfer it into a zip lock bag and let sit for at least 8 hours.
