For example, you will need about one hour or more to bake a large sweet potato. But, you can also cut down the time needed to bake a large sweet potato by cutting it in half.

How to Bake Sweet Potatoes in Foil

One of the ways that you can do to cook sweet potatoes is by baling them with aluminum foil. And here’s how to bake sweet potatoes in foil.

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 204 degrees Celsius. 

Step 2. Prepare 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes. Wash the potatoes until clean and pat dry with paper towels.

Step 3. Next, drizzle the sweet potatoes with a little bit of olive oil or vegetable oil and rub the sweet potatoes until all sides are covered in oil.

Step 4. Prick the sweet potatoes with a fork several times so that the inside of the potatoes can cook well.

Step 5. Wrap each potato in a large aluminum foil and wrap it around the sweet potato at least twice. Twist the end of the foil the seal the sweet potato.

Step 6. Place each sweet potato on a baking tray and place them in the oven to bake.

Step 7. Bake the sweet potatoes for about 45 to 60 minutes or until cooked through and soft. You can check them by poking a knife through the sweet potatoes.

Step 8. Once the sweet potatoes are done, take them out of the oven and let them sit for about 5 minutes to let them cool own. After that, carefully unwrap the sweet potatoes from the foil.

Step 9. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a plate and serve. Enjoy! 

How to Bake Sweet Potatoes in the Oven

You can also bake sweet potatoes in the oven without using aluminum foil. And here’s how t bake sweet potatoes uncovered without aluminum foil.

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 204 degrees Celsius.

Step 2. Prepare 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes. Wash the sweet potatoes until clean and pat dry with paper towels.

Step 3. Poke the sweet potatoes with a fork several times to make the inside of the sweet potatoes cooked well.

Step 4. Drizzle the sweet potatoes with a little bit of olive oil and season with a little bit of salt. Rub the oil and salt to all sides of the sweet potatoes.

Step 5. Place the sweet potatoes on a baking tray and place them in the oven. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the sweet potatoes cooked through and become soft. You can check the doneness by poking the sweet potatoes with a knife or fork.

Step 6. Take the sweet potatoes out from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes. Then, split the sweet potatoes and add some butter or other favorite topping of yours. Bon appetite!

How to Bake Sweet Potatoes in Microwave

Besides baking sweet potatoes in the oven, you can also bake them in a microwave. Below are the steps that you can follow on how to bake sweet potatoes in a microwave.

Step 1. Prepare one medium-sized sweet potato. Wash it until clean and pat dry with a paper towel.

Step 2. Poke the sweet potato with a fork in different places. After that, place the sweet potato on a paper towel and microwave it for about 3 minutes at a high temperature. 

Step 3. Flip the sweet potato and microwave it for additional 2 minutes or until it softens.

Step 4. Once the sweet potato is done, take it out from the microwave and transfer it onto a plate. Enjoy your warm and tasty sweet potato!
