  • gallon-size plastic bag
  • 4 cups of white vinegar
  • 1 cup of water
  • zip ties or twist ties


Step 1. Start by identifying your shower head whether it seems plugged or not.

Step 2.  Fill the plastic bag with white vinegar about half of the plastic bag.

Step 3. Then, place the bag over the showerhead until the entire fixture is soaked in the vinegar. You can adjust the level of vinegar if necessary.

Step 4. Tighten the bag with twist ties wrapped around the shower head's neck. Make sure the shower bag is secure.

Step 5. Allow the showerhead to soak for several hours. If it too dirty, you may leave it longer, about one night. But if there is brass, gold, or nickel-coated shower head, remove it from vinegar after  30 minutes.

Step 6. Next, remove the bag from the showerhead and run hot water to the showerhead to flush out to avoid remaining mineral vinegar stuck inside the showerhead. You can also scrub it with a brush.

Step 7. Finally, dry the showerhead with a soft cloth.

How to Clean a Shower Head with Baking Soda

You know that baking soda as powdery stuff used for baking can also be used to clean the showerhead. Besides using vinegar, baking soda is an effective cleaning product to make your shower head look like a new one. Follow these tutorials on how to clean a shower head with baking soda.


  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup baking soda
  • gallon-sized plastic bag


Step 1. Begin with making a reaction of baking soda and white vinegar. Combine these two cleaning products until it starts to bubble

Step 2. Place the mixture in a plastic bag and fully immersed your shower head in the bag. You can use a rubber band on the neck of the showerhead to tighten the bag.

Step 3. Next, let your showerhead soaked in the liquids for half an hour or overnight.

Step 4. When you wake up and ready to shower, remove the plastic bag and run hot water to rinse the showerhead.

Step 4. When it begins to rinse, add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar

Step 5. Once the cycle is done, hang your curtain back and let it dry. 

Note: if your shower curtains are plastic, don't need to run them through the spin cycle. Simply hang it in the bathroom after you rinse.

Step 1. Empty your fiberglass shower, Remove the bottles, soap, and other accessories.

Step 2. Then pre-rinse any loose dirt and debris

Step 3. When start cleaning your shower, make sure you open the bathroom door to prevent fumes and moisture from building up. Open the window or you can use a fan

Step 4. Now make a cleaning solution by mixing 1/3 liquid dish detergent and a cup of white vinegar. Before mixing vinegar, heat it mixture in the microwave for a minute to make it easy to combine.

Step 5. Place the mixture in the spray bottle and apply the cleaning solution to your fiberglass shower

Step 6. Use cloth, brush, or sponge to work with the product and scrub the shower.
