Here are the steps to follow.

Step 1. Open Finder.

Step 2. In the left sidebar, click in AirDrop. You may search for it using Spotlight (the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner) if it is not on the toolbar and choose it when it appears in the search results.

Step 3. To open a drop-down menu, click on the line that says "Allow me to be discovered by"

Step 4. Shift it to "No One" in the drop-down, so that your Mac will not be discovered. Although this doesn't actually "turn off" AirDrop, it makes sure nobody can use AirDrop to send you files.

Note: When using AirDrop, you can still transfer data. You can also adjust your Mac's AirDrop settings so that only your contacts can locate you. This is the second option in the "discovered by" drop-down menu.

Step 1. On your Mac, open the Finder app

Step 2. On the left side of the window, select "AirDrop" from the Favorites section

How to Send Items Via AirDrop

To send files and folders via AirDrop:

Step 1. From the Finder menu, click 'Go.'

Step 2. Then, from the main system menu panel, select AirDrop, or the sidebar of any Finder window, select AirDrop.

Step 3. A list of AirDrop users available nearby is shown in the AirDrop window. All you need to do is drop the items you want to send one after the other into the receiver's image (or name) in the window.

Step 4. Click the Send button, and your files are on the way.

Alternatively, you can use the Share feature:

Step 1. If it's available inside the app you are using, start by clicking Share. Alternatively, you can begin by clicking an object in the Finder and selecting Share from the shortcut menu.

Step 2. Select 'AirDrop' from the list of several sharing options that appear.

Step 3. Select the recipient from the AirDrop list after clicking AirDrop, and then press Done.

Step 4. Suppose the recipient is signed in to the same iCloud account. In that case, it immediately accepts and stores the item you are sending. If the recipient is not logging into the same iCloud account, until it can be saved to their computer, the recipient will be asked to approve the object.

Step 5. The sent item is saved to the Downloads folder on a Mac device while it is viewed in the associated app on iOS. For example, images are saved in the Photos app, and Safari will show websites.
