Are you planning on doing a camping trip with your friends? Will that be your first time? Congratulations then! Camping is an exciting activity that will give you a lot of challenges. What's more, the beauty of nature will make all of your efforts worth it. As long as you’re prepared for your camping trip, you’re good to go. Don’t worry because we will tell you all the things you need to prepare beforehand.
Decide on where and when to camp
It is very important to decide where to go for a camping trip since some camping sites have to be reserved beforehand. It will be better if you’re planning on where to go a few months before the D-day. So, you will have enough time to do research about camping sites, the prices, and what it offers. If you don’t know where to start and not sure about what you see on the internet, you can ask your friends for recommendations. Keep in mind to check the availability of the camping sites since there are peak seasons for camping like Summer and other holidays.
Choose your level
Some people choose to go camping in the wild far from any facilities, yet some others can’t live without electricity. Think this through before you go. To go primitive camping (camping with minimal facilities around) will be more challenging and probably is not the best choice for a beginner. It is unlikely for you to find drinkable water sources. So, you will have to bring a water filter with you. Also, if you think it's difficult to do your toilet business without the proper facilities, you might want to book a camping ground instead of going to primitive camping. Whatever camping style you choose, make sure you’re comfortable with each camping type has its own pros and cons.
Don’t forget to bring all the essentials
Make a list of all the things you have to bring along with you. Do not overpack since it will only make your bag heavier and trouble you. But also don't leave the basic necessities. Here are the things you’ll have to bring for camping:
- Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo)
- Multi-tool knife
- Sleeping bag
- Insect repellent
- Eating utensils
- Trash bags
- Toilet paper
- Playing cards
- Clothes, underwear
- Hiking boots
Don’t forget to bring extra clothing if you’re planning on swimming or doing any activity that will soak your outfit. Also, bring your medications if you have any. You also might want to waterproof your things beforehand.
Decide on your activities while camping
During your camping, you will probably find other activities that you could do together with your friends. You could go hiking, fishing, swimming in the nearby waterfall pond, and many others. Talk to your camping buddies and decide what activity you guys would like to do together. If you have done your research beforehand, you could prepare all the things you would need for the said activity so it will be less trouble for you on the spot.
