SHARE - Clifty Falls State Park is a beautiful state park popular for its waterfalls, located in Jefferson County, Indiana, United States. There are four waterfalls you can find in this park: Big Clifty Falls (60 feet), Little Clifty Falls (60 feet), Hoffman Falls (78 feet), and Tunnel Falls (83 feet). 

This spacious state park is 1,416 acres or 573 ha large. If you’re looking for a place for a family retreat, then Clifty Falls State Park is perfect because the trails are kids friendly!

There are many activities that you can do here, one of the most popular ones is camping and hiking. Want to stay overnight in Clifty Falls State Park? You can book a site for camping here! there are 167 campsites available to be booked, with 99 sites equipped with electric hook-ups, 63 non-electric hook-ups sites, 4 shelters, and 1 youth tent. 

The campsites are open year-round and the amenities will certainly make your camping experience easier. There are fire rings where you can burn your marshmallows, dump station, toilet, grills, laundry, and picnic area. 

If you’d like to camp here, you’re only allowed to bring one vehicle. If you bring more, then the other vehicle must use the overflow parking lot. Camping fees per night starts at USD 16 to USD 33 for electric sites and USD 12 to USD 22 for non-electric sites. Reservations can be made 6 months in advance.

If you’re looking for a more comfortable stay in Clifty State Park, you can book the Clifty State Park Inn. This 2-star lodging offers you a beautiful view of the park which certainly will give you the relaxation you need. There are also rooms where you can see the stunning river!

What’s more fun about staying in this inn is that some days the management holds a movie night, so you can hang out with people. Don’t worry, the inn has COVID-19 guidelines as well that they apply here. the rooms are clean and comfortable as well. A public pool is available to use also.

Feeling hungry while staying in Clifty State Park Inn? Well, you can easily go to their restaurant! They serve delicious meals – although the menu is limited. There is also a buffet choice which is very recommended!

Clifty State Park has 9 trails that you can hike on – ranging from easy, moderate, rugged, and very rugged. If you plan to hike the rugged trails, we suggest you to use a  walking stick to help you pass the trail. 

Choose trail 10 for an easy hike – it’s only 0.75 miles long. You can start from the back of the swimming pool. Throughout the hike, you will find old field ecology. If you want to explore the whole park, there is more than 12 miles of trails in this park. 

For an enjoyable trail hike, always carry and use the park map. Never leave young children to hike unsupervised. Also, wear appropriate footgear, such as hiking boots or athletic shoes.

You should also pay attention to your limit. Take your time and don’t force yourself, as the hills on the trails are often long and steep. Take notes that trails in Clifty Canyon are closed after sunset.

Clifty State Park opens every day from 7 AM to 11 PM. 

The entrance fee varies from each other. If you walk or bicycle into the park you must pay USD 2. If you’re camping you must show your Indiana parks annual pass or pay the gate fee. 

Clifty State Park Dogs policy

Dogs are allowed on the trails as long as they’re on a leash at all times. The terrains are dog friendly so don’t worry about having difficulties while hiking with your beloved dog!
