Located in Somerset County, Maryland, Janes Island State Park is a perfect destination for a short holiday. The park divided the mainland section with cabins and camping areas, and some parts accessible only by boat. Native Americans of the Annemessex Nation is were first the original island's inhabitants.

This park was created in 1963, and from 1965 to 1978, the park should be restored to revert the island to what it used to be. Now, the park is a worth visiting destination. It features a conference center, fishing and crabbing, boat launch, boat slips, and canoe or kayak rentals.

Moreover, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. Once your trip here, do not skip to canoeing or kayaking at this park. Canoe trails lead to a 7 mile long sandy white beach on Tangier Sound and the Chesapeake Bay. Most of the waterways are protected from wind, that makes the trails ideal for both novice or experienced paddler.

Besides, since the park sits at zero elevation, it provides a unique ecosystem with marshland as the majority of the park. The park's ecosystem is great for catching crabs and fishing near the pier. More than that, the park is a scenic spot for camping. There are rental cabins and several campsites available for visitors.

Are you excited to stay longer and fully explore the entire park? The park has a large open area available for camping and is a wonderful place for scenic state park camping.

Whether it is your first-time camping or you have ever experienced it, this park will meet your expectation. There are 104 campsites at the park's mainland, with 49 of which are completed with electrical hook-ups. RV campsites, cabins, and lodges are also available at the campground.

As we said before that your camping experience will be convenient since the park provides complete amenities in its campground. Those include flush toilets, drinking water, dump station, and even hot showers. Besides, there is also a marina, boat launch ramp, pavilions, and picnic area nearby.

If you bring your children, you can also let them play at the provided playgrounds. While if you need help with our camping, you can ask the staff at the visitor center.

Campsites can facilitate tent, RV, and trailers. Each site has a lantern post, fire ring, grate, a camping pad, and picnic table. Moreover, if you come with a large group of family or friends, you may choose a youth group site. The Youth Group Camping can accommodate up to 30 people. It features a stone fire pit, group grill, and picnic tables.

The park also offers some full-service cabins with beds for 6 people. Cabins are attached with some home basic amenities. Each cabin is equipped with kitchen utensils, bathroom, porch, AC, heat, and BBQ. A refrigerator, coffee maker, pot, microwave, stove are also provided. However, you should bring your towels, blankets, pillow, and linens.

There are four rustic waterfront cabins to get breathtaking views from your room. Each rustic cabin is available during camping season. It has a capacity of four persons and is completed with heat, electricity, AC, chairs, and table.
