There two main scenic hiking trails here. Both of the trails cover mostly the 12-mile length park area. They are The Long Path and Shore Trail. They are known to be the National Recreation Trails now.

These two trails are about thirty miles length stretching along the Palisades Interstate Park. During your tracking, you will be served with the opportunities hiking ranging from easy riverside strolls to the challenging trails of rock scrambles.

1. Long Path

This Long Path trail spans along the top of cliffs. It covers easy to moderate terrain throughout. You can start from the southern trailhead located just outside the Visitor Center. From the point, you can go down to the north on Hudson Terrace and up steel stairs. It's situated on the north of the George Washington Bridge, nestled into the woods.

The trail then passes through the outside of Allison Park. From the way, you will be crossing the Dyckman Hill Road and passing many landmarks like the Rockefeller Lookout and the Women’s Federation Monument. Continues to north to explore more.

2. Shore Trail

Shore Trail starts from the southern trailhead of the park. It's located outside the Visitor Center at Fort Lee Historic Park. The Shore Trail covers from easy to moderate terrain, excepting the Giant Stairs and the ascent to the northern trailhead.

From the trailhead, you can head down to the entrance drive. Then you only need to follow the multi-use trail beside Hudson Terrace south to the Edgewater park entrance. Descend to the Hudson River and head north along the Hudson shore.

At this point, you will meet the Hazard’s Dock. Then continue your hiking and pass through picnic areas. Eventually, you will cross the boulder field known as the “Giant Stairs” and Peanut Leap Cascade. Be careful as the area tend to be more steeply and ascending.

3. Other Trails

Those two are the main, but they're also more of trails provided by the park that you can explore. There are five trails that connect the Long Path with the Shore Trail. 

Meanwhile, another six trails are designed for cross-country ski trails at State Line Lookout. They are marked by A – F signs. Those can also be used by hikers.

Palisades Interstate Park offers a modern experience with 70 sites that are suitable for tents and RVs. Six cabins are also available for those who are looking for a cabin camping experience here. The RV cabin can accommodate up to 75 feet of vehicles. They are pull-through and back-in sites.
