Jul 27, 2020 07:08 PM
Tripboba.com - After the latest robber emoji that went viral in twitter, people are looking more into examples of Mandela Effects. What else could our mind be deceiving us about? Well, you will be surprised that there are a lot of Mandela Effect examples that you’d probably believed as well.
Mandela Effect itself is a phenomenon when a group of people shared the same belief that something has existed or occurred, when it’s not at all. It’s also a type of false memory, which refers to cases in which people remember events differently from the way they happened or, in the most dramatic case, remember events that never happened at all.
This term gained its popularity in 2010, when a self-described “paranormal consultant”, Fiona Broome, believed that Nelson Mandela was died in 1980s in prison. Many people then claimed that they shared the same belief about the South African leader. Fiona then coined the term of “Mandela Effect” in regard to this phenomenon.
Without further ado, let’s check out the 10 of the most shocking Mandela Effect that you probably experience as well!
1. George in Curious George never had a tail
George the monkey from American cartoon show curious George, never had a tail. Yes, we all believed that he has a brown tail just like other monkeys, but it’s a Mandela effect. This little primate which was found in Africa by the Man with the Yellow Hat then raised curiousities – is he really a monkey or an ape (which would be correct if it doesn’t have a tail).
2. It’s Jif, not Jiffy
How old were you when you realized the peanut butter Jif is not called Jiffy? Well, that fact surprised many people in the internet too – mainly in Reddit. They recalled that it used to say “Jiffy”. A user said “Jiffy was/is a real peanut butter. I didn’t see Jif until I was in my twenties and I thought Jiffy rebranded to sound more modern or something.
Another user also said that they “remember holding a jar of Jiffy” and “ate Jiffy nearly every singe dang day as a kid.” But Jiffy peanut butter never existed, at all. This was confirmed by the representative from the J.M Smucker Company, saying “Jif was never named Jiffy.”
3. The Berenstein Bears – it’s Berenstain

Aside from Curious George, you might also remember watching The Berenstein Bears – but did you really? Maybe you watched Berenstain Bears instead.
Many people spelled the title wrong that it was normalized, thus the Mandela Effect. Though it’s official – the twitter account, the cartoon show, and even the book said Berenstain, many people believed that the book they read definitely said “Berenstein” on the cover.
4. It’s Febreze, not Febreeze

You probably have this in your house and use it everyday and still thought that it’s spelled “febreeze.” No, it’s Febreze. It has always been.
5. Skechers, not Sketchers

Many people also believed that the spelling of Skechers shoe is “Sketchers” adding a “T” between the letter c and h. Well that’s definitely a real word but the shoe company itself was never named “Sketchers.”
6. Pikachu’s Tail

How would you describe Pikachu’s tail? Do you remember that it has a black detailing at the end of the tail? Well, it’s a false memory, because in reality Pikachu’s tail is always full yellow with no black fur at the end at all, at least in its official artworks. This false memory is probably caused by the black colour at the tip on its ears – which made people believe that it’s the same as for the tail.
7. “Life is Like a Box of Chocolates”

You might have heard this famous quote from the popular movie “Forrest Gump” which was played by Tom Hanks. However, this quote was never said at all. Tom Hanks, actually said “Life was like a box of chocolates” – well, it’s never too late to edit your Instagram caption.
8. “Mirror, mirror on the Wall”
“Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” is a popular quote in Snow White movie, said by the villain Wicked Queen. In fact, she never said “Mirror, Mirror” because if you listen closely, you will hear her say “Magic mirror on the wall…”
If you tried it on your mirror saying the former, that’s probably why it doesn’t respond to you.
