Have a day to explore Leo Carrillo State Park? You can go to Nicholas Canyon Beach. This beach is less crowded than Leo Carillo State Beach, but it’s not too far. Most people come here to chill and picnicking, as there are picnic tables at the beach. This place is very clean too so it’s perfect for you who loves a nice, a bit secluded place.
If you love challenge and you’ve never surfed before, you may want to go to Radfish Malibu Boardshop and Apparel while you’re here. This boardshop is very famous for its surfing class, with professional trainer that will be patiently teaching you how to surf here. Don’t worry if you’re only a beginner, they teach all levels and they are very hospitable – you won’t regret learning to surf from them.

CAMPING

Leo Carrillo State Parks offers camping inside the park area. You must book the site online – they will let some walk-in reservation as well as long as the campsites are still available. The park has only token-operated showers and the token machines accept only one dollar bills. So, better prepare yourself with the cash before camping here. The sites are also equipped with electrical hook-ups: 20 AMP, 30 AMP, and 50 Amp. They also have group campsite as well.

HEALTH ADVISORY

During this time of pandemic, the park is open with limited access. Parking is very limited and visitors should maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or more. Gathering, picnics, and parties are not allowed. You should also bring your own soap/sanitizer.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit Leo Carrillo State Park in Los Angeles is from March to May and September to November, when the weather are most pleasant and the tourist places won’t be too crowded.

Craving for food? Well, there are many restaurants near Leo Carrillo State Park that you can visit, especially around the beach area. However, you may want to try Neptune’s Net, which is a popular seafood restaurant located 1 mile away from the park’s beach. They serve fresh catches, burgers, as well as beers at picnic tables overlooking the ocean. If you’re a fan of Fast and Furious, you will notice that this restaurant was the filming location as the biker spot in the movie.

Another restaurant you should go to is GEOFFREY’S. This restaurant is perfect especially if you love fine dining, or looking for a romantic place to go with your date. The ambience is just grand and very lovely, with the views of Pacific Ocean. Their service is top notch and the foods are delicious as well.
