High Falls State Park is a 1,050 acres park located close to the City of Jackson in Monroe County, Georgia. It is a part of the Macon metropolitan region. In the 19th century, it was the site of an industrial center that was prosperous. When it was bypassed by the railroad, it became a ghost town. This park has the biggest waterfall in middle Georgia. Besides, it also has a 650 acres lake. This beautiful park is a convenient and restful side trip for every traveler.


For a one day trip, hiking is quite a wonderful idea to do. Hike along the waterfall in the 4.5 miles of trails. If you cannot do them all, then you can take the one the falls that is called Falls Trail. This state park remains open, but every visitor should follow guidelines and do social distancing. Some trails or grounds and historic site museums are now open for public. However, distancing restrictions probably still apply.


The best time to visit High Falls State Park is May, June, or September. May is the end of the spring season, so that 's best month to visit Georgia, especially this state park.
