SIGHTSEEING

Experience lapping water and Gulf breezes in Goose Island State Park surrounded by both St. Charles and Aransas Bays. One of the highlights of this park is "The Big Tree", a Southern live oak (Quercus virginiana), thought to be over 1000 years old.
Although it is located on the seashore, the shoreline consists of concrete, oyster shell, mudflat, and marsh grass.

That’s why there’s no designated swimming area at the park. Instead, the main park activities include camping, birding, fishing, and boating. In Goose Island State Park, sightseeing wouldn’t have been so nice! It’d never be enough to just drive through to see the Big Tree. Nothing beats the beauty of nature offered in this park: from pretty trees spread out the area as well as the amazing shoreline on the bay with so many people fishing out there.

Enjoy the park by reserving passes online or calling the customer service center beforehand. The entrance fee for adults is $5 while children 12 years and under can visit the park for free.
