SIGHTSEEING

Overall, Heckscher State Park is a lovely park. There are excellent bike trails, brand new, well-designed cabins, beaches, footpaths, baseball fields, picnic areas, camping sites, boat launches, basketball courts, and disc golf. East Islip Marina Park is a magical spot on the island! It is an excellent spot for a family on a budget to be by the peaceful waters, but there are deer everywhere! They are very friendly deer, and some come right up to your car! Plenty of running space for the kids and exploration!

ONE DAY TRIP IDEA

Start your day with breakfast in Hometown Cafe. The atmosphere is quaint, beautiful big windows to watch the town go. Food is consistently good diner food, with delicious specials. Meals are freshly home-cooked, service is excellent, and pricing is decent. Recommend this place. Then, you can also go to the Heckscher Forest Disc Golf Course. The club that runs the course is some of the most beautiful, well-meaning individuals you'll ever meet. The course is long and challenging but playable for all levels. Also well maintained and reasonably well marked. The disc golf course is in the park for no extra cost, so when the park is free to enter, the disc golf is free too. To continue this journey, you can also do outdoor activities in Heckscher State Park. You can get six different places to rest. Beach and trees. Activity and cozy lounge. Quiet place. A lot of hiking and cycling lines.

Heckscher Forest Disc Golf Course

What an amazing disc course.

Course has great signage, long holes, nice layout throughout the 21st holes.

The course is long and challenging but playable for all levels.

The tee pads are beautiful and the signs are informative.

The Snapper Inn is an excellent restaurant to get dining vibes. Enjoyed our dining experience. The calamari is delicious. The greek salad had a fantastic light dressing on it, which made the salad taste soft for lack of a better word. There is lots of outdoor seating with tables for more than 6 feet apart. The food is delicious, and the view is one of the best anywhere. Every meal is a water view. They provide large portions and for economical rates. You can also consider visiting Vinnie's Mulberry Street, a beautiful family restaurant for family, and gathering lunch or dinner. Lovely dining room, excellent pizza room, and convenient parking. The food is always top-notch. The Dining Room is perfect for this establishment. It has a classy and refined feel. Everyone compliments the food. The cold pizza is the bomb.
