The park covers 2,448 acres, with many miles of hiking trails both inside the park grounds and linking to other parks and landmarks beyond.

Oswald West State Park is a scenic state park encompassing nearly 2,500 acres of mostly undeveloped land. The park is ideal for a variety of outdoor recreation including surfing, kayaking, bird watching, hiking and camping. Try out many of their hiking trails which weave their ways through the entire parks, some leading to the coastline.
Have a beautiful walk through old growth forest over to the cove/shore. Feast upon a stunning view from multiple vantages in the cove where one large creek and several smaller ones empty into the cove. There’s even a waterfall inside the park.
Discovering the beauty of Oswald West State Park in a day seems impossible, but if you’ve got a very limited time in hands, make sure to visit the Smugglers Cove. Urban legend claims pirate treasure is buried near Smugglers Cove but has never been found.
A popular beach that’s alive with activity on any weekend or summer day, Short Sand Beach lies sheltered in a cove blanketed by forests and edged with volcanic basalt and sandstone cliffs characteristic of the Oregon coastline. The path to the beach is easy to find and a relatively short walk. The trail down is very picturesque, tree covered with lush vegetation and creeks along side as well as a small suspension bridge to cross. This quiet beach is perfect for surfing or having picnic.
Oswald West State Park offers miles of hiking trails in this 2,484 acre park. You can always explore the ones most convenient for you: lots of the great hikes in this park that are good for all levels of fitness, ranging from flat and easy to steep and twisty. However, make sure you don’t miss a nice hike through a forest filled with huge spruce trees toward the Cape Falcon.
If you love spending your night outdoor, we’re afraid to inform you that Oswald West State Park doesn’t offer camping. However, there are other amenities and features you can enjoy instead such as hiking trails, picnicking, viewpoint, restrooms flush, beach access, and fishing.
Oswald West State Park is open for day-use with reduced services amid the pandemic spreads. Currently, there’s limitation in parking, so be prepared to turn around if lot is full.
During the pandemic spreads, please don’t forget to wear face masks, maintain six-foot social distancing, and keep your hands clean by washing them regularly with soap or hand sanitizer.

Head south to Manzanita City and you’ll find many restaurants spread across the coastal area. Make sure to try out the best baked goods offered by Bread and Ocean Bakery. Have a pleasant breakfast or lunch there. People love their cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, granolas, polentas, soups, and not to mention the coffee.
If you’re looking for a whiskey bar with great selections of drinks and food, pay a visit to MacGregor’s. The site is small but well organized and popular with the locals as well which says a lot.

Unfortunately, there’s no visitor's center or gift shops at Oswald West State Park. However, if you want to go the extra mile, you can head to Mo’s Restaurant and shop in their gift shop selling some stuffed animals and ocean souvenirs.
