Located at Manchester-by-the-Sea, Singing Beach allows you to walk on its beige-colored beach sand and you will hear the squeaky sound coming from underneath. In fact, that’s the thing that made people are so curious of the beach. Not to mention that in this beach that you’re allowed to play with your dogs there from mid-October to mid-April!
If you’re tired from walking or running along the shoreline with your dogs, you can collect shells that are brought by the waves to the shoreline. You can also just wind down, sitting on the soft sand and watch the waves crashing. It’s just a perfect place to peace your mind, refresh it from the city’s buzzing sound.
To enter this beach in the first place, you will have to pay for admission fee at USD 7. You can also buy a season pass which is USD 20. Parking is limited and you will have to pay USD 15 on weekdays and USD 25 on weekends. But after you spend your time at the beach, you can go to Masconomo Park for free!
Masconomo Park is located only 0.5 miles away from the beach, approximately 10 minutes away by walking. In the park, you can play baseball/softball, hanging out at the playground, walk around and picnicking. This park also hosts a free Tuesday night band concert.
Aside from the social distancing rules right now, there are additional rules that you must obey if you’re visiting Singing Beach for the sake of your own safety. You can’t use rubber rafts, wind surfers, kayaks, artificial floats, skim boards, and boogie boards. You are also prohibited to climb and dive off of rocks and island swimming. Open fires are also prohibited. Lastly, keep in mind that recreation area use is at the discretion of lifeguards.
If you like crowds and want to join the summer hype at Singing Beach, you can go in Summer Season, which runs from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day. We also recommend you to visit the beach as early as possible, since the beach is often full by 11 AM. The beach is open at 9 AM to 7 PM. So, prepare all your beach items such as sunglasses and snacks and go to the beach at 9 AM if possible!
As we have mentioned above on the rules, there are water sports equipment that you’re prohibited to use at the beach. However, you can still surf and swim along with the waves.
If you want to experience better waves for water sports, you can visit Deveraux Beach which is only 4.6 miles away from the singing beach. Other beach you can visit for water sports are Good Harbor Beach which is 4.6 miles away and Long beach or 5.2 miles away from Singing Beach.

Feeling hungry and want to please your tummy with yummy foods? You can go to Cala’s Restaurant! You can eat American foods here as well as making your own pizza. The ambiance of Cala’s Restaurant is more-homey than a luxurious restaurant. They also offer vegetarian friendly and gluten free menu! We recommend you to try their delicious seafood.
If you want to try another restaurant, you can go to Bravo by the Sea. It’s a family-run pizza restaurant where you can enjoy their warm, original pizza. Expect to be served by great staffs who are attentive to your need as well in this restaurant.
Visiting Singing Beach means that you should prepare yourself to indulge the yummy Massachusetts’ local foods. Massachusetts is famous for its clam chowder and lobster rolls. Massachusetts’s clam chowder has a creamy texture caused by milk or cream. It’s made with clams, potatoes, onions, and at times includes salt pork.
For the lobster rolls, you won’t regret trying a portion of lobster with little mayonnaise, a squeeze of lemon, sprinkle of pepper, and diced celery. A true heaven for seafood lovers!
