Lake Norman State Park is the park located on the biggest man made lake in North Carolina.

It boasts one of the region’s most famous mountain biking networks, with a 30.5 miles of single-track trail.

Enjoy the beautiful lake view while you are kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, and pedal boating.

Go to fishing spots and catch your fish.

If you want to only sit down and relax, picnicking at the three picnic areas will be fun too.

SIGHTSEEING

On the Park Lake visitor center, you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, canoes, and paddle boards. See the beautiful view of the lake while you enjoy boating here. Enjoy the fresh air and clear water. In addition, you can swim on the south area of the park at the end of State Park Road.

ONE DAY TRIP IDEA

If you love hiking and biking, Lake Norman State Park is your place. There are 30.5 miles of hiking or mountain bike and approximately 7.5 of hiking-only trails. It makes the park an ideal place for a bike ride or a hike. Fishing is allowed here, so catch your fish in the fishing spots. Enjoy your wonderful day at the three picnic areas at Lake Norman. Luckily, using picnic tables is free of charge!

CAMPING

Picnic tables, grills, and ten pads are available at 33 campsites. On each site, the occupancy is restricted to one family or six people. Some campgrounds are able to accommodate RVs as well. No hookups available here, but there is a dump station provided. You need to make a reservation in advance for camping. The quiet hours are between 10.00 PM and 7.00 AM. Group campsites are also available.

HEALTH ADVISORY

Maintain social distancing and wear a face covering. Wash or sanitize your hands before, during, and after your visit. Stay at home if your body shows symptoms.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit Lake Norman State Park is September, May, and October. They are the most pleasant months to visit this state park.
