Fortezza di Santa Barbara in Italy

www.enjoysiena.it

Also known as Fortezza Medicea. 16th century fort that is now a public park. Good views but not a lot else to see. This fort was built in the 1560's on the place of a previous citadel built by the Spanish in 1548 and subsequently...

Not a lot here When visiting a fort there is an expectation of the history surrounding it. Apart from a brief metal plaque on entry there is very little here, yes, views over the city, rampart walks and, not a lot else.

Stunning views If you can find your way into the fortress there are great views, we just managed to walk all the way around the bottom looking for the way in. Free to get in and lovely views over Siena.
