Interactive exhibits & high-tech sky shows entertain stargazers, lakefront views are a bonus
Adler Planetarium is located in Chicago, Illinois. It is the first planetarium in the United States, founded in 1930 by Chicago business leader Max Adler. You could experience an amazing connection to the sky and universe while learning more with interactive technology about the outer space.
Not only giving people the best outer space experience, but Adler Planetarium is also supporting Chicago’s black women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). They do it by holding a panel for their anniversary conference with black women scientists as the speakers.
To enter the planetarium, you will have to pay for a ticket. The price varies based on the facilities and the visitor's age. It ranges from $8 for kids (ages 3-11) and $19 for adults to visit each exhibition.
To have unlimited access, you have to pay $39 for kids and $50 for adults for all exhibitions, shows, and Atwood Sphere Experience. However, there are Chicago Museum Free Days when the residents of Illinois can visit museums for free.
The Adler Planetarium opens every day from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Keep in mind that there are special hours where the planetarium will be open for public from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm on a certain day.
Also, note that the planetarium will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Winter Break. The next day after Christmas, the planetarium will reopen in special hours every day from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm until 1st January.
Adler Planetarium is holding science-related events every year such as Scopes in the City, Apollo 13 Revisited, Doane at Dusk, and many others. If you don't have time during the daytime, maybe you must visit “Adler After Dark”.
On April 16th, June 18th, August 20th, and October 15th the planetarium will open for the event from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Enjoy the best night view of the skyline in Chicago from the planetarium’s rooftop.
What's special is the Planetarium will collaborate with local partners and scientists based in Chicago. You can invite your family or friends to enjoy the night in the planetarium. There is also relaxing music played by the DJ in the open bar after attending the shows.
In case you’re wondering, Adler Planetarium also allows you to book a private event at the planetarium. It is a great choice of place as you could enjoy unique and beautiful spaces, great food, and a breathtaking view of Chicago’s skyline.
